TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Sony Computer Entertainment Inc said it will launch its PlayStation 3 video game console in Europe, as well as in all PAL-system territories on Mar 23.

The retail price for the high-end PS3, with a 60 GB hard disc drive, will be set at 599 euro, 425 pounds, 999.95 aud and 1,199.95 nzd.

But Sony Corp (nyse: SNE - news - people )'s game unit said it will delay releasing the basic model in Europe, and will sell the 20 GB HDD version later in the year, depending on demand.

Sony Computer late last year was forced to postpone the European launch of its PS3 due to the parent firm's difficulty in producing blu-ray diode, a key component of the next-generation console.
